Michael & Pam

We had previously been members of the Liberal Jewish Synagogue in St John’s Wood. When we moved to Havant, travelling to central London was no longer a viable option on a regular basis, so we began to explore more local Jewish communities. The first one we visited was Wessex Liberal Jewish Community based in Bournemouth, where we felt so welcome that we abandoned our plan of visiting other congregations and decided to become members.

We enjoy the relative informality of Wessex and the friendliness of its members. We are pleased to contribute to the community, whether through baking cakes for kiddush, reading at Yom Kippur, doing the occasional security duty, inviting the community to sukkah parties at our home, helping with the booklet to celebrate Wessex’s tenth anniversary, or co-ordinating short Friday evening services for families with children.
