Hav & Ruth

When we returned to England in 2013 to live in Bournemouth after 22 years living in Spain, we were introduced to WLJC by Helena & Stewart and Cissie & Basil, whom we knew when they holidayed there, and like us were members of the synagogue in Benidorm.

Straight away we were welcomed, particularly by Gillian and Ros and then discovered our now close friends, Jacky and Stan, lived just round the corner from us. We all get on well, sharing the driving on alternate Saturday mornings.

We were very impressed with Nat's synagogue services, got to know the different tunes, and the friendliness of all the Community, and it became 'a second family'. Hard working Rosemarie and Myrna asked if I (Ruth) would like to join the KiddushTeam, something I enjoyed-even the washing up! Hav became a council member, and deputy head of security, as he was head of security in Spain, while I was volunteered into sending out Yahrzeit reminders, previously undertaken by Anne. Milestone birthdays are also now sent out.

From the first moment Rabbi René conducted his service we really took to him - both he and Nat have a lovely sense of humour and a wonderful knowledge of Judaism. Flora's sweet voice is a joy to listen to.

Peter, Alex, David A, David W, Gillian, Warren, Russell and John contribute so much behind the scenes and deserve to be recognised.

To all our dear friends, we thank you for the delightful mornings spent with you and wish WLJC continued success and to grow in strength.
